Inspiration | CLAVIS ARTIS, alchemical manuscript

Clavis Artis is an alchemical manuscript published in Germany in three volumes in the late 17th or early 18th century, attributed to Zoroaster (Zarathustra). It features numerous watercolor illustrations depicting alchemical images, as well as pen drawings of laboratory instruments.

Little is known about the manuscript. Alchemical symbols, light and darkness, fire and water, sun and moon are often personified in the drawings.

The Roman edition of the manuscript was rediscovered in an antiquarian bookshop in the 1970s by composer Nino Rota who composed the score for Francis Ford Coppola’s film The Godfather.

Description

I make these special works of art from thin gold-colored metal sheets, with meticulous, jewelry-quality workmanship, and hand embossing. Each piece is made individually, by hand, NOT with a printing stencil. They are almost like a piece of jewelry on the wall. Each piece is unique, no two are the same. On the back of the picture there is a brand mark and signed by the artist, Erika Baglyas. The picture frames are unique pieces, I will discuss them with you when ordering. They will be shipped very carefully packaged.
